So Chelsea’s Cafe has its liquor license back (again) after having it taken away by the ATC (again). Thus, Dr. Dog will be playing there tomorrow night as planned.

MNF prediction

[ Monday, September 28 ] By: Josh Davidson  —  Leave a Comment

Tonight the Cowboys will again try to get the team’s first win in the new stadium against a very shaky Panther team.

They will get that win.

Jake Delhomme has throw 5 picks to only 1 TD through the first two games of the season and look for him to pad the stats of some Dallas DBs tonight.

Romo hasn’t been great, but has still managed to throw 4 TDs while giving up 3 INTs.

Look for the game to be somewhat close at first but a stellar Cowboy rushing attack led by Marion Barber and Felix Jones should be all Dallas needs to control the game in the latter stages.

Score:  31-17 Dallas

Can LSU beat Georgia?

By: Josh Davidson  —  Leave a Comment

Yes.

Well, they can but will they?

LSU needs to correct many, many things if they want to come away with a win this Saturday in Athens and all of which starts with the play from the offensive and defensive lines. People want to point at LSU’s “predictable” play calling as the reason for the team’s lackluster games so for, but are the calls that much different from previous successful seasons under Miles? I think not. Les Miles was wrong when he called this one of his best O-lines that he has coached. Very wrong.

Last weekend the Tigers ran for 31 yards on 30 carries. That is humiliating! We have more quality backs than any team in the country, but they can’t run if there is no running room. Ciron Black and Lyle Hitt need to step up and do a better job leading the inexperienced linemen like the underachieving T-Bob Hebert.

Georgia has looked very good since their opening game against OK State, and have an offense that can score in bunches. AJ Green might be the best receiver in the country and first year QB Joe Cox hasn’t looked too bad himself. If Patrick Peterson can slow down Green and the LSU offense can mix up the calls and get something out of their running game, this could be a very good game.

Georgia has allowed over 26 points in their first four games, so LSU doesn’t have to worry as much about the Bulldog defense. That being said, LSU doesn’t need to get into a shoot out, but must control the time of possession and run the ball more efficiently.

Florida has a bye week this week, so Tebow should have plenty of time to rest after suffering a concussion this past weekend. LSU is currently ranked #4 in the country and will need to play a mistake free game in Georgia and go into the Florida game with some confidence in order to right this ship and let the nation know that they are deserving of such a high ranking.

I see LSU playing up to its competition at least for this week and pulling out a 33-24 victory.

P2K: Let the lists begin

It’s almost the end of the first decade of the 21st century — well sort of, since as of today, it is still September. But don’t tell that to Pitchfork.com, though. The online music magazine has already started with its “best of” lists, already naming everything from the top 500 songs of the 2000s to the top 50 music videos of the decade. Moreover, the site is sounding off with articles that aim to recap the decade in various genres, including (so far) pop, noise, and indie. Recently, the site recalled the top news stories of the decade, hitting on everything from Eminem’s Slim Shady army at the VMAs in 2000 to the more recent fight (of words) between Flaming Lips front man Wayne Coyne and Arcade Fire’s Win Butler. Currently, the people at Pitchfork are working on a list of the top 200 albums of the 2000s. Since it is not even October yet, I am sure there will be much, much more to come.

Saints better than ever?

[ Sunday, September 27 ] By: Josh Davidson  —  Leave a Comment

The Saints are now 3-0 after beating the Lions, Eagles and Bills. Wow, that feels great to say!

We all knew that the Saints could win through the air, but who would’ve thought they could beat a team by running the ball and by playing sound defense?

Going into today’s game against the Bill, the Saints were ranked the #1 scoring offense while Buffalo was #7, which was the same number of points we allowed them - and that lone score came off of a fluke play when the Bills faked a field goal. The boys in black really looked good and none more so than Pierre Thomas who ran well over 100 yards and scored 2 scores in the second half alone.

Drew Brees had a subpar game not passing for a TD in what seems like the first time ever. But that could be a good sign. The Saints beat a quality team on the road by double-digits without a TD pass from Brees.

Next up are the 3-0 Jets, which should make for a great game, seeing that the Jets have a very good defense and what some believe the best DB in the game in Derrelle Revis.

Bring ‘em on!

What is LSU’s fate?

[ Tuesday, September 22 ] By: Josh Davidson  —  Leave a Comment

Everyone so far has been up in arms about how “un-impressive” the LSU football team has looked to this point in the season. But is this unimpressive team for real or are they just a ticking time bomb waiting to go off once the heart of the schedule kicks in 2 weeks from now in Athens?

I’m going with the prior and sticking with this team and am confident that this team is better and has been better than many people think. Through the first 3 games LSU has averaged 28 points while their opponent has gotten 11. Sure they haven’t played the toughest of opponents - although some can make the claim that Washington is the truth thanks to last Saturday - but really what did you expect through 3 games? They are 3-0. Check. The defense is improved. Check. We have a solid quarterback. Check (aside from the accuracy issues). We have playmakers. Check.

So what’s the big deal? So we haven’t blown anybody out so far. So what? There are plenty of teams out there who would kill to be in LSU’s shoes right now. We have athletes that can matchup with any team in the country. Also, what team in the country has really dominated through 3 weeks to a degree that you think LSU couldn’t compete with them? Florida is a good team but there is no reason to think that LSU couldn’t win that game if they tweaked a couple of things here in there.

According to the AP pole right now we still have to play several top ranked opponents including the first, third and fourth ranked teams in the country - two of which on the road. That will be tough and I’m not so sure the team we’ve seen to this point can win all of those games, but I do think we can at least get two out of three.

All I’m trying to say is to not jump off the ship just yet. This is a long season and like we saw in 2007, anything can happen.

A Call to the REAL LSU fans!

[ Saturday, September 19 ] By: Josh Davidson  —  Leave a Comment

Ok so 92,400 fans and some change attended the ULL game. I sitting here looking around the stadium at the 8:46 mark in the 4th quarter with a 24-3 score and the stadium is at best half full.

WHAT DID YOU EXPECT FROM THIS GAME?

Come on! Last week the Vandy game was more of the same with fans leaving extremely early - like 2nd quarter early.

If you buy a ticket watch the game, stay for the game, don’t be a FAKE fan.

I understand the Tigers haven’t played at full at full potential but we should use the games as FANS to get ready for the big games and that means to stay, cheer and strike FEAR in the opposing teams. That doesn’t happen with early exits by FAKE fans!

Live from Tiger Stadium

First Half Analysis:

The Tigers haven’t looked that great against an undermanned ULL team thus far in the game. The Tigers have looked very sloppy on offense including several badly thrown balls by QB Jordan Jefferson including 1 INT.

The Tiger must get their run game going and Jefferson needs to work on his accuracy. This is the game that the Tigers need to fix all the loose ends before a two game road trip and then a home match against Florida.

Look for a heavy dose of Keiland and Chuck the Truck in the second half and a final score more like 38-10.

More to come after the game.

Told you so!
