Interesting billboard in Mississippi
”Mississippi: Our children can’t read. We are all losers.” Funny way to promote literacy.
That ranks up there with a billboard I saw in Minnesota that said ”Having sexual thoughts about children?”
Good intentions, mixed effect.
Who says you can’t go home?
I surprised my family by coming home to Iowa for Thanksgiving. I haven’t been to my family Thanksgiving since high school, and it was a welcome change for cajun-fried turducken and shrimp casseroles.
On the way, I got to see the Smashing Pumpkins in St. Louis (thanks, KC). More on that later.
The best part? Gas in […]
Looking backwards
Applying to law schools has given me occasion to reflect on the process of applying to colleges. I didn’t have a very open mind when it came to my applications as a senior in high school. Basically, I wanted to go to an elite school (Harvard, Georgetown, or the University of Chicago) or I’d stick […]
Bring back the woolly mammoth!

I think enough people would pay to see it to pay back the costs. I know I would.
Four down
I’ve finished four law school applications: The University of Washington (Seattle), Washington University (St. Louis), the University of Minnesota, and the University of Virginia.
 Many more left to do.
The Big Three
Since half my family is from Detroit, the struggles of the US auto companies are a little more poignant to me than to the average LSU student.
Where I live in Iowa, foreign cars are about as common as Starbucks (that is, almost nonexistent).
One of the first things that surprised me about Baton Rouge was the […]
BRR!
It’s chilly out there. I grew up in Iowa, but four years in Louisiana have made me forget what real cold is. I’ll be in for a shock when I go home for Christmas.
$1.99
Yesterday I saw gas prices under $2 for the first time in years, maybe even six or seven years.
That’s mixed news for Louisiana, but good news for everywhere else.
Impeech Obama
Yes, a Facebook group of that (exact) name has appeared. On what grounds? He isn’t a citizen.
Here’s the birth certificate, guys:

By the way, the Democratic Congress has a better chance of impeaching Bush before he leaves office (close to zero chance of that) than impeaching Obama.
Try again, guys.
I had a crazy dream
LSU almost lost at home to some team I had never heard of before (something like Troy).
And then the US elected a black president. His middle name was Hussein!
Crazy, huh?
